MS Bioworks and The University of Chicago Collaborate to Combine Quantitative Proteomics and RNA-Seq

In work recently reported in Science Magazine MS Bioworks and collaborators from The University of Chicago combined quantitative proteomics and RNA-Seq to show that protein concentrations from identical cell types across three primate species are under stronger evolutionary constraints than the respective mRNA expression levels.  In the work reported by Zia Khan from the Gilad Lab at UC the combination of SILAC and RNA-Seq data sets identified dozens of genes with significant expression differences at the mRNA level yet little or no difference in protein expression.
